lave lamp How can I get to make my lave lamp to work again?
I've had my large lave lamp a number of years now and it always worked fine, but now even though it lights and heats up the wax doesnt move anymore. Any tips on how I can get the wax inside to start moving again?
If you have replaced the bulb with the same type as the original its just possible that the wax has compacted down over the years and just needs more time to heat up and flow.
The wax melts due to the heat energy of the bulb. If you put a smaller wattage bulb in there, it just doesn't have enough heat output to melt the wax. (IE: replacing standard bulb with compact fluorescent means not enough heat.)
Lets say for a moment, that the original bulb was 100 watts and the wax has compacted down over the years. You could use a 120 to 150 watt bulb (for a short time and always supervised) to get the wax liquid again. Then go back to the normal 100 watt bulb.
NEVER attempt to heat the glass lava bottle on a stove or over a flame. I've seen those things explode with a good deal of force.
